There’s a quiet kind of joy that comes from being recognized by peers—especially when that recognition is for doing the work you love most. Over the past three years, Elizabeth Ryan Interiors has had the honor of being named among the Interior Design Society’s Designer of the Year winners and finalists.
The IDS Designers of the Year awards are judged by a panel of fellow designers. Looking at each finalist, we are always humbled and honored to be included with such a fantastic, talented group.
In 2023 we won Best Bathroom Design under 30K for Project Ivory Garden. In 2024 we again were celebrated in the Bathroom category as a runner up for Project Sage and Roses. And this year, 2025, we were proud as Project Chestnut and Steel won runner up for Best Entry.
We don’t design for awards. We design for the people who live in these spaces. Still, it’s deeply rewarding to know that our work is resonating—with clients, with the IDS community, and with those who understand that elegance is often found in the quietest details.
2023 Designer of the Year – Project Ivory Garden
Thoughtful space planning was the hero here—transforming cramped cleansing zones into a seamless, light-filled flow.

What began as a dated, compartmentalized layout is now a calming, open-concept retreat that truly serves its owners. Thoughtful space planning was the hero here—transforming cramped cleansing zones into a seamless, light-filled flow.
Soft arches, a doorless shower, and a subtle ceiling blush bring a gentle warmth to the architectural clarity. The warm white palette is grounded by classic brass and wood accents, while a mural-style wallpaper adds just enough artistry to keep things personal. Every detail was designed to breathe, to connect, and to quietly elevate the everyday.

The fresh, botanical design reflects the same vibrant energetic spirit as this creative client.

The young lady who grew up in this home got to give it a beautiful facelift to reflect her personal design aesthetic.

Unique design choices such as the stunning bamboo patterned cabinet were perfect for the woman who wanted a distinctive, one of a kind space.
The playful energy of the thistle wallpaper and soft pink trim is balanced by the understated elegance of the shower room. Tiled in a soothing green, the shower details bring quiet luxury to the party.

I didn’t know the impact that a soothing environment would have on me until I experienced this – Client of Chestnut and Steel

If one spot in our homes needs to be a calming oasis, it is the Entryway. We all can use a moment to transition, a space to give us peace. A professional accustomed to long hours and a lot of travel, our client was looking for ways for his home to be a sanctuary.
We started the objective very strongly in the Entry with dark, calming tones and rich texture. The color palette was centered around the idea of a lush, forest glen. The wall mural traveling up the stairway emphasized this concept with rolling hills and trees.
What These Awards Mean
Each of these projects is a reflection of our core belief: that design should feel deeply personal, effortless, and emotionally resonant. Awards are lovely—but the real reward is hearing a client say, “This feels like me.”
We’re endlessly grateful—to our clients who trust us, to our talented collaborators, and to the IDS for recognizing the heart behind our work.
